Aura Bionics Inc. ("Aura Bionics", "we", "our") is a technology company based in Ontario, Canada. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect limited personal information when you voluntarily provide it, such as your email address for waitlist registration, updates, or support requests. We also collect basic device and usage information for app functionality and analytics. Users create an account to access app features. Account information including email address is stored securely.

2. Use of Information

Information collected is used solely to provide access to the Aura Bionics service, communicate updates, and improve app performance. Any visual or audio input used by the application is processed only to enable app functionality and only with user consent.

3. Camera and Microphone Access

Camera access is requested solely to enable features such as the Photo Journey, which allows users to capture facial scans for wellness reflection. Camera data is never accessed, transmitted, or stored without explicit user action.

Microphone access is requested to enable voice-based features, including on-device wake word detection and conversational wellness interactions. Wake word detection runs locally and does not transmit audio. When a conversation is initiated, audio is transcribed via the OpenAI Whisper API and processed in real time; the raw audio is not stored. A foreground service may be used while voice features are active, which is indicated by a visible notification on the device.

4. Data Processing & Retention

Scan images may be stored securely in the user's private account to enable the Photo Journey feature. Audio input is transcribed and not stored as audio. Audio transcription is processed via OpenAI Whisper API and is subject to OpenAI's data policies. Aura Bionics does not sell personal data to third parties.

Personal data is retained only for as long as your account remains active or as required to provide the service. Users may request deletion of their account and associated data at any time by contacting info@aurabionics.com; data is removed within 30 days of a verified request, except where retention is required by law.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to provide app functionality: Firebase (Google), Anthropic (Claude API), OpenAI (GPT-4o, Whisper), ElevenLabs, and fal.ai. These services process data solely to enable app features and are subject to their own privacy policies.

6. Children's Privacy

Aura Bionics is not directed to children under 18 years of age (or the age of majority in the user's jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided data to us may contact info@aurabionics.com.

7. No Medical or Diagnostic Use

Aura Bionics is a wellness and lifestyle technology product intended for informational purposes only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or health assessments.

8. Legal Compliance

Aura Bionics operates in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy laws.

9. Your Rights

Users may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information by contacting us. We do not sell personal data and do not share personal data for third-party advertising purposes.

10. Data Security and Breach Notification

We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal data. In the event of a data breach affecting personal information, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email when appropriate. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
